Children & Youth
Consider together what you have explored, what that means for each of you and how it might influence your daily lives. (10 mins)
Activities marked with an asterisk next to the activity title are in addition to the resources in the Ready to go sessions. Suggested timings for these activities are also shown. NB The inclusion of additional activities varies from week to week.
FOR CHILDREN
-
Ask the children to close their eyes and sit quietly. Ask them to imagine that Jesus is sitting beside them now. What would they like say to Jesus? What might Jesus say to them? Suggest that they might try to do this at home several times in the next week, remembering that God is with them, ‘now’.
Go with God 24/7
Encourage the children to put their faith into action
Whatever you are doing in the week, make time to stop and remember that God is with you NOW. E S
Before you finish, give out the ROOTS at home resource to encourage faith at home.
Sing
To the tune: Let it Go (chorus)
As I go,
May I know,
You love me from head to toe.
Spirit be, within me,
You’re alive for all to see!
Here I stand in the light of Christ,
Let the Lord shine on –
The world cannot harm me in any way.
FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
- Ask the young people to spend some time being in quiet and just notice where their thoughts go. Are they able to stay present in the moment? Talk together about how they experienced the silence and what happened in their thoughts. Is there anything that helps us to stay in the ‘now’?
- Finish by everyone writing down one thing, from that time of reflection, that they want to be their focus now, and one thing about their relationship with God that they would like to develop.
Go with God 24/7
Try not to think about what’s going to happen next, or in the future, and be present in the now. E S
Before you finish, give out the ROOTS at home resource to encourage faith at home.
