Signed Easter prayers

A prayer for children using sign language

Teach the children the basic sign language used in the prayer before you begin.

This can be used in the weeks following Easter Day. Show one line at a time and ask the children to sign it back to you.

Father God,
> FATHER = HOLD THE INDEX AND MIDDLE FINGERS OF BOTH HANDS OUT STRAIGHT. TAP ONE SET OF FINGERS ON TOP OF THE OTHER TWICE.
> GOD = POINT FORWARD WITH YOUR INDEX FINGER AND THEN FLICK THE FINGER UPWARDS.

We are happy today,
> HAPPY = PALM OF ONE HAND TAPS THE OTHER PALM REPEATEDLY (A CLAPPING MOTION).
> TODAY = BOTH HANDS PALMS FACING UP SHOULD BE TAPPED DOWN TWICE AT WAIST LEVEL.

because it is Easter.
> EASTER = USING YOUR INDEX FINGER, TRACE A CROSS ON THE BACK OF YOUR OTHER HAND.

And so we come
> COME = HOLD YOUR ARM OUT STRAIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, PALM FACING UP. POINT YOUR INDEX FINGER SKYWARDS AND THEN BRING THE FINGER TOWARDS YOU.

to thank you
> HAND TOUCHES THE CHIN THEN MOVES FORWARDS AND DOWN.

for Jesus.
> INDEX FINGER OF THE ONE HAND TOUCHES THE CENTRE OF THE OTHER PALM, THEN SWAP HANDS AND DO THE SAME.

Amen.
> SLAP AN OPEN PALM WITH A FIST.
