Go with God

Adult & All Age

Go with God

Consider together what you have explored, what that means for you and how you will live your faith this week

All age act of worship Session
  • If we are to be the ‘open arms of God’ in today’s world, what sort of party should we be throwing? Who should we invite? Invite people to discuss this, for a few moments, with those around them. Invite feedback and begin to plan a party or celebration, including a list of local people to invite.
  • Draw up a list of tasks needed to make this happen, and find volunteers for each action. Make it happen!

Children & Youth

Go with God

Consider together what you have explored, what that means for each of you and how it might influence your daily lives. (10 mins)

Activities marked with an asterisk  next to the activity title are in addition to the resources in the Ready to go sessions. Suggested timings for these activities are also shown. NB The inclusion of additional activities varies from week to week.

FOR CHILDREN

Childrens Session
  • Give each child a template of a house.
  • Around the outside of the house, ask the children to write/draw some of the things that make them feel lost or far away from God. Inside the house, ask them to write/draw how knowing they can be forgiven makes them feel. And then on the path, ask them to write/draw ways they can show others that God wants to welcome everyone into his family.

Go with God 24/7

Encourage the children to put their faith into action

Try to be forgiving by being quick to accept apologies from anyone who annoys you this week.

Very young childrens Session

Sing

To the tune: Twinkle, twinkle, little star

Farewell friends, as we depart,
keep these stories in our hearts.
Through these days of Lent we know,
that our faith in God may grow.
Through temptations in our days,
be like Jesus through our ways.

FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Young people Session
  • Ask the young people to write the different ways the younger and older brother in the story were lost.
  • Once everyone has written these down, ask them to think if they connect more with the younger or older son in the story, and to circle any words that relate to their own feelings.
  • Ask the young people to reflect on the forgiveness that the father showed to both sons and imagine that being offered to them.

Go with God 24/7

Show a welcoming spirit to people every day this week, perhaps by
being generous with your time and smiling.
