Three weeks in which we see the stimulus for Jesus’ ministry and destiny emerge from the Gospel readings.

Beloved

After the visit of the Magi and the exile in Egypt, Matthew turns straight to the proclamation of repentance by John the Baptist and Jesus’ baptism. His ministry is affirmed by a voice declaring ‘This is my Son, the Beloved’.

This week’s reading, Matthew 3.13-17, provides us with an opportunity to:

• explore the story of Jesus’ baptism
• identify signs of God’s affirmation.
