Worship and learning for the whole Church – wherever you are
Resources for families with school-aged children to use at home
Welcome to #faith at home with ROOTS. We're delighted to be part of the Church of England's #faithathome initiative working with Oak National Online Academy.
Prayers and prayer activities to use during the week.
A prayer at the start of the day
Lord of heaven and of earth,
as we start this new day
let our eyes be open
to the needs of those around us,
give us humility of spirit
and generosity of heart.
Amen.
A prayer for others
Light a candle and say:
For those who are lost:
we pray for protection and for peace.
Meet them, Jesus, in their darkness, fear or questions.
We think of those people we know who are lost…
and if we too are lost, help us, Lord.
Light another candle and say:
For those who are seeking:
we pray for guidance and good choices.
Meet them, Jesus, in their searching and their wondering.
We think of those people we know who are searching…
and if we too are searching, help us, Lord.
Light a third candle and say:
For those who have been found:
we pray for humility and continued hope.
Meet them, Jesus, and remind them of their need of you.
We think of people we know who have been found…
and if we too know we are found, thank you, Lord.
Amen.
Pray with our whole bodies
Point to or touch as you say:
God of grace and mercy,
we come to you in prayer.
We offer you our whole selves.
We bring you our foreheads to remind us that we want to think carefully and wisely about what you want us to do.
We bring you our eyes to remind us to look for your glory in the world around us.
We bring you our mouths to remind us to speak kindly to others and to speak your name boldly.
We bring you our ears to remind us to listen for your voice.
We bring you our hearts to remind us to love the people we meet.
We bring you our hands to remind us that we are working for you when we do things for others.
We bring you our feet to remind us that we want to follow Christ and walk in his way.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord,
Amen.
A prayer at the end of the day
Lord, thank you for all you have given us,
help us to look out for those in society,
who need us to give of ourselves,
whether it be money or time.
Help us, Lord, to do our giving quietly,
not showing off to make ourselves look good,
but in humility,
because you first gave to us.
Amen.
Last week 22-28 May we explored Love.
Next week 5-11 June we explore Patience - Find prayers to use through the week.
