All-age introduction

A way to begin worship when all ages are present.

Compassion in action

We all need help from time to time, but it can be hard for some of us to ask for help or indeed to know what help others might need.

Today we are going to think about things we can do or share with those around us. However, rather than asking people what needs they have, let’s ask everyone to think of something they can offer. For example could you:

  • invite someone back for lunch/dinner today?
  • offer an hour of gardening or housework this week?
  • give someone a lift to an appointment?
  • write a letter to someone who is housebound?
  • make up a bag of surplus garden vegetables?

Invite anyone who has something to offer to say out loud what it is. See if, either during the service or afterwards, you can connect them with someone who would be grateful to receive that particular ‘gift’.

God calls us to be ‘compassion in action’ and to be blessed by giving, receiving and sharing our time and talents with others.

These suggestions can be made as part of an online pre-recorded or live service with suitable caveats depending on the government's current pandemic guidelines. If a live service, people could offer and accept their 'gifts' in the chat.
