March/April issue highlights from Pam
Welcome to our Lent/Easter issue. Our weekly sessions, based on Old and New Testament lectionary passages, help children and young people to explore what it means to belong to the Christian faith.
Look out for our new Easter drama about what it means to be ‘Easter people’. And in April we’ll focus on how the very first Christian community lived their faith. We’ve devised a colourful teaching poster, Acts of the Apostles, to help provide context and continuity for your group(s) as you share the readings from Acts.
This issue we’re delighted to share with you a new resource to help those with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) or other additional needs to participate more fully in church contexts. Roots Visual timetable has been written specifically for worship settings, enabling children and adults to anticipate what is happening next in a service or session. The timetable has been developed in partnership with Mark Arnold, Additional Needs Ministry Director at Urban Saints. Mark’s article, Going beyond inclusion, explains how churches can develop their ministry in this area.
Our latest Discovering God resource uncovers the meaning of the resurrection and could be readily adapted for small groups of young people or secondary school assemblies.
Finally, you’ll find a fresh way to share Easter joy with the local community. Our new Easter Egg Hunt features a special Easter trail, with accompanying activity sheet, that is bound to appeal.
May God bless you in your valuable work with all those you serve. Do let us know how it’s going – if there are any challenges or opportunities that you would like to see Roots engage with, we’d love to hear from you.
